This one is cool to the touch on both sides. Other laptops I've owned, even non-gaming laptops, would have very hot surfaces on the top and bottom of the base. Video transcodes are quick, and there's no problem playing 1080p h264 video either. I play Modern Warfare 2, EVE Online, Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands and others on this system without so much as a single hiccup. This is the only notebook on newegg with the new Core i7 CPUs as well as NVidia's GTX 260M, and you can feel it. Apps that aren't DPI-aware are smoothly scaled up, and the effect isn't as jarring as it was in the XP days. Windows 7 handles DPI better than any previous edition, so higher-resolution screens can run at their native resolution and still be easy to read. I'm a huge proponent of high-DPI (well, PPI) screens, and the smoothness is just wonderful.
